Why FREE?

At EQATEC we are experts in embedded development, both native (C/C++) and managed (C#). We have completed many large .NET CF projects. We have the only Microsoft embedded MVP in Scandinavia. We've been doing embedded development for about 10 years now.

In 2006-2008, when developing a really large .NET Compact Framework application in C# for Windows CE (87000 lines, 7000 methods in 44 DLLs), we looked around for a .NET CF code profiler. Surprisingly there were none. Then we made our own. In April 2008 we released a public and seriously polished version that can be used and distributed freely. Fortunately the programming community has been very positive towards the EQATEC Profiler, which we appreciate a lot.

After having once again spent lots of time manually adding trace instructions to above mentioned .netcf project, we thought “this can be done smarter!”. The EQATEC Tracer is the result. To our knowledge the EQATEC Tracer is the only one in the world that solves the old problem of adding tracing instructions to applications through automatic injection of trace instructions into your .NET application.

For now we have decided to make it available for free, so it won't cost you anything. Just download it and stop spending time on the rather boring chore of adding trace code to your applications.

A major reason for giving it away free is to get some idea about how much demand there is for tools like this. Therefore we'd kindly ask you to register the download, simply to give us some idea of how many developers - and in what kind of businesses - will find this tool useful.

And please don’t hesitate to give us feedback. Email tools@eqatec.com or post a comment in our forum.
